Model United Nations
The united nations is a gathering of the countries around the world. It was created to stop another atrocity such as the second world war, from ever happening again.
The Model United Nations is a gathering of students to replicate this meeting of nations, in order to improve the students' debating skills, their ability to research their countries, and the ability to communicate their ideas skillfully and be politically correct.
I was the country of Lebanon, coincidentally, I was also born IN Lebanon, so I had a bit of an advantage in knowing what to research and knowing things about my country, before I even began my research. I was part of the World Health Organization (WHO), which strives to bring health to the different countries around the world so that they are all in good health and are able to provide for their citizens the basic needs in food, water, and health.

The Research
While doing this project, we had to research different things in our country, ranging from who are the political leaders to what type of food is grown in said country. This was the biggest aid I had in doing my research, as it had all of these things and more, and I ended up printing it out for usage later during the actual conference. It had information that the CIA had gathered on Lebanon, and it helped me in figuring out that Lebanon has had no president since 2014, and that the president has to be Christian.
Position Papers
This is my position paper.
We had to write this paper to state the position that Lebanon was in on this crisis, and how it is reacting to the different situations it has found itself in. It was mostly used to gather our thoughts, and to be able to accurately state how the country feels.
I am most proud of how accurate I was able to portray my country in this position paper, since I thought I wouldn't be able to do it justice at the very beginning of the project.

Opening Speeches
This is my opening speech.
We had two drafts, a first and final draft. I didn't change anything between these drafts, as I felt that the very first draft showed what I wanted it to show, and I ended up going off of it in the actual presentation.
I didn't receive any type of critique that I thought warranted a change in the original speech.
I would change nothing. It states exactly what Lebanon wants it to state, and nothing would say it better. (Except maybe the actual delegates opening speech...)

The Conference
The conference was exciting. I enjoyed being able to debate with all the different countries around the world, specifically the U.S.A. as we had many different opinions and we butt heads nearly the entire time at the conference, rarely coming to an agreement. I am most proud of being able to slyly sneak my way into receiving 2% of America's annual GDP, and 3% of Myanmar's GDP, just to continue receiving refugees.
I am most proud of my committee being able to come to agreements most of the time (even too much so at times, there was rarely any conflict between countries that should have conflict!) However, if we were to do this again I Would urge next year's students to be a bit more conflicting, as I noticed that my Chair and Co-Chair were a bit distressed at the sudden hospitality and niceness that each country was showing towards each other.
